The Beatles first released “Christmas Time (Is Here Again)” as a fan club-only recording back in 1967. It was pared down from its original six-minute length and included on the 1995 “Free as a Bird” single. Bits of in-song storytelling were removed, leaving only the song and ending greetings.

“Christmas Time (Is Here Again)” differs from “Free as a Bird” in that it’s a bona fide Beatles release. That is, all four Beatles were on this side of the pearly gates when it was committed to tape. Given the controversy following the release of “Free as a Bird,” this may or may not count for a lot with you.

It’s a pleasant tune, though something of a toss-away. Still, a resurfacing Beatles song is almost as rewarding as a newly surfacing one.
